Vivien Cho is a Medical Merchant. The Rules say unwed women can have jobs, so there. And this is her lovely daughter, Etsu. Vivien is a bit long in the tooth for trying to remarry. Plus, she was specifically chosen to be a Merchant based on he job in the medical field.

Vivien has to dash off to work, leaving her precious daughter in the hands of Karen Gast, the Nanny.

Karen does as Etsu does and wets herself in the lawn. In front of the welcome wagon. The house of Cho is making a wonderful first impression -sarcasm.

And it seems EVERY household must go through this welcome to the neighborhood-kicked your trash can over-hahaha-sucker ritual. -heavy sigh-

Thankfully, Vivien's aspiration is high from making friends with Jan Tellerman. So she can provide Etsu with a bottle of amazing milk.

Jan, in the meanwhile, is busy dowsing the fountain with soap. Suave, Jan. Suave.

Though Vivien is exhausted from work, she works hard teaching her daughter what the nanny refuses. Nannies these days have no sense.

And Vivien discovers that spending time with ones spawn can actually be rewarding.

Even potty training can be a positive experience. When one has the right attitude.

But Vivien must keep her skills sharp. Her field in Medicine provides her with an important place in the Silk Road community. She must do well to earn it.

"Another chance to prove yourself, Karen. Don't fail me."

This time Karen doesn't lose her bladder and takes decent care of Etsu. She even cleans around house.

Etsu grows up into alien PJs and wild hair.

Her everday clothes look very familiar...

She grew up well, our little Etsu, and began learning the basics of cooking. Her mother doesn't know the first thing about it, I'm afraid. But her Nanny keeps her well fed.

Etsu knows her mother works hard to provide for her. She comes home everyday and heads straight to bed.

And soon its time for Etsu to start school.

I knew those clothes looked familiar. Hello, Xiao Sying! Etsu brang a friend home from school.

The two young ladies get to making the most of the autumn season.

They laugh and play.

And are soon very good friends.

When its time for Xiao Sying to head home, Etsu's mom gets off work.

They share the rest of their afternoon playing.

And Vivien helps Etsu with her homework.

Afterwards they ave some tme to play chess together. Etsu is a real prodigy.

The next morning Vivien is visited by Xiao Sying's mom, Noble Patricia Wan.

She's very happy her daughter has someone to play with.

The zombie eyes!

Anyway, Vivien is very happy to entertain Lady Wan. And she's very proud that her daughter made such a good impression.

Nanny Gast is turning out to be a treasured help around the house.

Etsu continues to amaze and tops her logic skill.

She gets a treat as Nanny Gast lets her play in the autumn leaves.

Nanny Gast even feels a surge of playfulness and joins in.

We're rounding out the week now, and it's pretty obvious that Etsu is a positive force in the household.

Her mother's starting to feel the pressure ease and she's beginning to enjoy the company of those around her. That's a very nice way to end the chapter.
